& Mochavulin Golden Retrievers has been approved by the
KUSA Accredited
Breeders Scheme, meeting the following specific requirements:

Must have
been a KUSA member in good standing for a minimum of five (5) years.

Must have
bred at least 3 litters from Breeding Stock that conforms to the requirements of
the scheme before applying for Accredited Breeders Status.

All
breeding stock must be KUSA registered.
-
With each
puppy sold, the relevant registration certificate must be forwarded to the new
owner as soon as possible. All breeder restrictions that may be applicable must
be explained and written and signed confirmation must be obtained from the new
owner, on or before the date at which the dog is handed over, confirming that
the new owner is aware and understands the implications of the restrictions and
the circumstances under which the restriction(s) may be removed (if at all),
regardless of whether the endorsed registration certificate is available at the
time of hand over or not.

Follow
KUSA policy regarding, the frequency and number of litters whelped per bitch and
not breed bitches under the age of 12 months as specified in Schedule 9 Reg.3
and Schedule 2 Reg.12.2 and adhere to any breed specific registration
requirements as per Schedule 2 Appendix ‘C’. It is recommended that bitches be
mated for the first time only upon reaching full maturity and development, and
thereafter be bred at the maximum, every alternate season.

All
breeding stock must be irrevocably identifiable by either micro-chip, tattoo or
DNA profile. The agreement of sale must clearly stipulate that puppies will be
micro-chipped upon transfer to new owner.

Make use
of health screening schemes, relevant to their breed, with all breeding stock.
These schemes presently include DNA testing, hip and elbow dysplasia grading and
inherited eye conditions.

Puppies
should be socialized prior to hand over to new owner and written advice on how
to continue socialization and how to exercise and train the puppy, must also be
provided.

Provide
written advice on feeding and de-worming programmes.
-
Provide a
vaccination certificate signed by a veterinarian and details of the vaccination
program to be continued.
-
Inform
buyers of the objectives and requirements of the KUSA Accredited Breeders Scheme
and grievance procedures to be followed in the case of dissatisfaction.

Make sure
that whelping facilities accord with good practice, that whelping boxes
appropriate to the size of bitch and appropriate in design are used.

An
agreement of sale between Breeder and Purchaser must be signed for each puppy
sold. The agreement of sale must clearly stipulate the nature of any guarantee
given (eg. time limit) and/or any provision for refund, return or replacement of
a puppy. The agreement of sale must clearly stipulate if there are no guarantees
given and if there is no refund or replacement policy etc. The agreement must be
signed and dated by both breeder and purchaser, showing that both have agreed to
these terms.

Breeders
seeking membership to the scheme must attach a copy of their standard agreement
of sale, routinely used, to the application form.
WHAT IS THE SCHEME?
The aim
of the KUSA Accredited Breeder Scheme is to provide a framework to encourage the
breeding of healthy, well-adjusted puppies. It lays down a series of
requirements that breeders must follow in order to participate in the scheme.
People
who buy puppies from Accredited Breeders will gain the assurance that the
breeder has undertaken to follow basic good practice as laid out by the scheme.
There is
no charge to join but membership renewal is obligatory on an annual basis. Upon
joining, members will receive an Accredited Breeders Certificate and a new
membership card upon annual renewal.
Compliance to certain scheme requirements will be automatically verified via the
KUSA data base whenever an Accredited Breeder applies to register a litter.
Accredited Breeders to present to all new owners, which will further assist to
confirm Breeder compliance. New owners should be encouraged to complete the form
and return it to the KUSA office via fax/e-mail/mail.
Further, random checks will be made by contacting some of the new owners who
transfer puppies into their own names. Visits to Accredited Breeder kennels may
also be arranged.
There is a set grievance procedure that will be followed in the case of
complaints (as per Schedule one (1) of KUSA regulations. Any breeder subject to
KUSA disciplinary suspensions under Schedule 1 will not be eligible for
Accredited Breeders Scheme membership and will be delisted from the Scheme.
PLEDGE TO BE SIGNED BY ACCREDITED BREEDERS
I agree
and commit to being a responsible Dog Breeder. I accept that this means adhering
to the following points:

will not disadvantage my family in any way by having dogs that I cannot
afford or
manage.

I
accept and will adhere to public health, nuisance and animal protection
laws.
-
I
will take proper care of my dogs - make sure that they are properly fed and
watered, have adequate space, exercise and shelter, that they are
vaccinated, receive any necessary veterinary care, and are kept free of
parasites.
-
I
will clean up after my dogs, so as to be hygienic, not causing a health
problem for my family, my dogs or my neighbours and community.
-
I
will as far as possible, try to make sure that my dogs do not make so much
noise that my neighbours will be disturbed, and will try to amicably resolve
any dispute with my neighbours, arising from issues pertaining to the dogs
under my care.
-
I
will control or confine my dogs so that visitors, who I allow on to my
property are not endangered.
-
I
will keep my dogs on my property so that they do not wander on to the street
or other properties and become a danger, or nuisance, to traffic or other
people or animals.
-
When
I take my dogs out into public places I will keep them on a leash or control
them so that they are not a danger or nuisance to other people or animals.
-
I
will follow good breeding practice by only breeding, if I am reasonably sure
that I will be able to find good homes for the puppies. I will have the
puppies properly vaccinated, dewormed and positively identified before they
go to their new homes. All puppies will be registered (entire litters) with
the KUSA and no application for late registration will be
submitted by me.

If I
have a female in season I will suitably confine her or take her to a
boarding kennel so that she does not cause a disturbance to other animals in
the neighbourhood.

If I
find a stray pet I will immediately inform an animal welfare organisation or
take it to a welfare organisation if I do not know who the owner is.
-
I
will be legally responsible for my dogs’ actions.
-
I
will hand over KUSA registration papers to all new owners of puppies that I
sell.
-
I
will abide by all KUSA rules and regulations as well as KUSA voluntary
inspection parameters.
-
In
signing this document, I accept that I could lose the prestigious status of
Accredited Breeder, if it is proved that I have transgressed any of the
conditions listed.

I
affirm that I have read and understood the full contents of the Accredited
Breeders application form, including the contents of this declaration.
ADVANTAGE TO THE BREEDER
-
KUSA
will direct enquiries pertaining to the purchasing of puppies received from
the public and other interested parties to those listed on the Accredited
Breeders Scheme.

KUSA
will list the current Accredited Breeders on its website.
-
KUSA
will assist the Accredited Breeders with issues pertaining to Municipal,
Provincial and National laws.
-
KUSA
will publish a list of new members of the Accredited Breeders Scheme in
“Dogs in Africa”, the official Kennel Union magazine.
-
KUSA
will allow Accredited Breeders to place adverts of a specific size on the
KUSA website, at no charge. Finished material to be supplied by breeder.

Accredited Breeders will qualify for discounted rates agreed to between the
Kennel Union and related organisations such as City Councils etc.
